EDION Corporation (2730) raised its net profit forecast for the year ending March 2027 to ¥22.5 billion from ¥15.7 billion, lifted its annual dividend forecast to ¥65 from ¥50, and announced a share buyback of up to ¥5 billion.
For the April-September first half, the consumer electronics retailer posted net sales of ¥416.4 billion, up 8.0% from a year earlier, operating profit of ¥23.8 billion, up 73.0%, and net profit attributable to owners of the parent of ¥16.3 billion, up 74.1%. Net profit came in 71.1% above the company's May 11 forecast of ¥9.5 billion. The company cited above-average temperatures throughout the period and replacement demand linked to the so-called 2027 problem, which drove strong sales of air conditioners and other seasonal goods.

EDION said the business environment, including domestic consumption, remains uncertain, but it raised the outlook based on first-half results.
The interim dividend was set at ¥30 per share, up ¥5 from the previous forecast, totaling ¥3.17 billion. The year-end dividend forecast was raised to ¥35 from ¥25. The company targets a consolidated payout ratio of 30% or more.
The buyback covers up to 2.5 million shares, or about 2.36% of shares outstanding excluding treasury stock, via ToSTNeT-3 using an accelerated share repurchase (ASR) structure. Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities will sell borrowed shares to cover any shortfall, with the final share count adjusted later through the company's 2nd series stock acquisition rights issued to the brokerage.
Next steps: the interim dividend takes effect Dec. 1, 2026. The repurchase will be executed on one trading day between Nov. 10 and Nov. 16, with results disclosed afterward. The ASR adjustment is scheduled for Feb. 12-Apr. 12, 2027, extendable to Apr. 26, 2027.
