Nomura Micro Science Co., Ltd. (6254) on Oct. 23, 2026 cut its earnings forecasts, now projecting a net loss attributable to owners of the parent of ¥91 million for the April-September first half of the fiscal year ending March 2027, versus a previously forecast profit of ¥1.961 billion, and lowering its full-year net profit outlook to ¥10.36 billion from ¥11.1 billion.

H1 net profit (revised)loss of ¥91 million (prev. profit of ¥1.961 billion)
H1 sales (revised)¥24.18 billion (prev. ¥34.5 billion)
Full-year net profit (revised)¥10.36 billion (prev. ¥11.1 billion)

The company lowered its first-half sales forecast by 29.9% to ¥24.18 billion from the ¥34.5 billion announced on May 14, 2026. Operating profit is now expected at ¥1.132 billion, down 68.5% from ¥3.6 billion, while ordinary profit is seen swinging to a loss of ¥141 million from a projected profit of ¥2.65 billion. In the same period a year earlier, the company posted sales of ¥25.193 billion and net profit of ¥1.413 billion.

The company said a large water treatment equipment order in the United States that it had expected to win in the first half is now likely to slip into the second half, reducing sales. Higher costs on a large water treatment project already ordered in South Korea also pushed profits below initial projections.

For the full year, Nomura Micro Science kept its sales forecast of ¥97.0 billion and operating profit forecast of ¥16.0 billion unchanged, citing solid inquiries across regions and expected progress-based revenue from the U.S. project in the second half. After reviewing items including interest payments on borrowings, however, it cut both its ordinary profit and net profit forecasts by 6.7%. Full-year earnings per share are now projected at ¥269.70, down from ¥289.90. In the fiscal year ended March 2026, the company reported sales of ¥56.245 billion and net profit of ¥3.818 billion.
