Hokushin Co., Ltd. (7897) on Sept. 25 raised its first-half forecast, now projecting a non-consolidated operating profit of ¥170 million instead of a ¥100 million loss, and net income of ¥110 million versus a previously expected ¥120 million loss.

H1 net income (revised)¥110 million

The Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard-listed company's board approved the revision to the forecast it published on May 14, 2026, covering the six months from April 1 to Sept. 30, 2026, the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2027. Sales are now expected at ¥5.4 billion, up ¥100 million, or 1.9%, from the earlier ¥5.3 billion. Ordinary profit is projected at ¥170 million versus a previously forecast ¥110 million loss, and earnings per share at ¥3.88 versus a loss of ¥4.23.

Hokushin said progress on price revisions it has pursued since the start of the fiscal year, together with a year-on-year rise in new housing starts, kept sales broadly firm across structural applications as well as its mainstay building-material and floor-base applications. Some demand was also pulled forward ahead of the price changes.

On profits, the company said higher selling prices absorbed sharp increases in energy and raw material costs linked to the situation in the Middle East, as well as rising labor costs and inflation-driven expenses.

Hokushin left its full-year forecast, also released on May 14, unchanged, saying continuing tension in the Middle East makes trends in raw material, energy and logistics costs uncertain and their impact on results difficult to reasonably estimate.
