Corona Corporation (5909) on Oct. 22 lowered its consolidated forecast for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2027, now projecting an operating loss of ¥680 million versus ¥500 million previously, on sales of ¥39.51 billion, down from ¥40.6 billion.

The maker of heating and housing equipment, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard Market, revised the outlook it issued on May 12, 2026 for the six months from April 1 to Sept. 30, 2026. Sales are now expected to come in ¥1.09 billion, or 2.7%, below the earlier projection, while the recurring loss is seen widening to ¥430 million from ¥300 million.

Net loss attributable to owners of the parent was revised to ¥290 million from ¥300 million, or ¥9.91 per share versus ¥10.26 previously.

Corona said sales of split-type air conditioners, supported by stricter energy-efficiency standards taking effect in April 2027, and exports of oil heating appliances progressed smoothly. However, sales of its mainstay EcoCute heat pump water heaters declined due to aggressive moves by competitors and weakness in the mid-range segment.

On the profit side, the company cited lower sales of housing equipment and sharply higher purchase prices for raw materials and other inputs. The narrower net loss reflects a gain on the sale of investment securities booked after it sold part of its strategic shareholdings.

The full-year forecast is still being compiled, and Corona said it would make a prompt announcement if disclosure becomes necessary.
