Fine Sinter Co., Ltd. (5994) on Oct. 28 cut its net profit forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 by 72.0% to ¥140 million from ¥500 million, while raising its sales forecast to ¥46.0 billion from ¥44.5 billion.

FY net profit forecast¥140 million (prev. ¥500 million)
FY sales forecast¥46.0 billion (prev. ¥44.5 billion)
FY operating profit forecast¥800 million (prev. ¥1.2 billion)
H1 net profit¥324 million (down 64.9%)

The Tokyo- and Nagoya-listed sintered parts maker lowered its operating profit forecast to ¥800 million from ¥1.2 billion and its ordinary profit forecast to ¥360 million from ¥800 million. Forecast earnings per share fell to ¥32.72 from ¥116.84. The previous forecast was published on May 14, 2026.

The company said sales were lifted by strong domestic and Asian sales of products including parts for hybrid vehicles, and by a weaker yen than assumed, which boosted sales through currency translation. It cut its profit outlook as raw material and energy costs are expected to rise while part of its price adjustments will not take effect until the next fiscal year or later. One-time costs from preparing to suspend operations at its U.S. subsidiary and special gains and losses disclosed the same day were also factored in.

For the April-September first half, net sales rose 0.3% to ¥23.1 billion, operating profit fell 79.9% to ¥241 million, ordinary profit dropped 97.4% to ¥26 million, and net profit attributable to owners of the parent fell 64.9% to ¥324 million.

First-half net profit included a ¥358 million gain on the sale of investment securities as the company reduced strategic shareholdings, and a ¥123 million gain from Thai Fine Sinter Co., Ltd.'s sale of 21,000 square meters of unused land in Rayong Province, Thailand. It booked ¥105 million in special retirement payments as a business restructuring expense under extraordinary losses, related to the planned suspension of operations at American Fine Sinter Co., Ltd.

The annual dividend forecast was unchanged at ¥25.00 per share, comprising an interim dividend of ¥10.00 and a forecast year-end dividend of ¥15.00.

Next steps: Fine Sinter plans to file its semi-annual report on Nov. 5, 2026, and to begin paying the interim dividend on Dec. 2, 2026.
