Saijo raises FY net profit forecast 23.3% to ¥147 million despite special losses

Saijo (591A) raised its net profit forecast for the fiscal year to August 2026 by 23.3% to ¥147 million from ¥120 million, while booking extraordinary losses and a deferred tax charge.

Revised net profit forecast¥147 million
Revised ordinary profit forecast¥278 million
Revised EPS forecast¥26.28
Income tax adjustment charge¥74 million

Saijo, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's TOKYO PRO Market, said on Oct. 13 it revised the forecast it issued on June 29 for the fiscal year from Sept. 1, 2025 to Aug. 31, 2026.

Sales are now projected at ¥14.47 billion, down 1.7% from the previous forecast of ¥14.73 billion. Operating profit is seen at ¥197 million, up 36.3% from ¥144 million, and ordinary profit at ¥278 million, up 49.2% from ¥186 million. Earnings per share are projected at ¥26.28, compared with ¥21.32 previously.

The company said sales were broadly in line with the earlier forecast. Operating profit exceeded the plan as the gross profit margin came in above target and other operating revenue increased. Ordinary profit was further lifted by foreign exchange gains.

Saijo expects to book a ¥32 million loss on the sale of land it held as rental property and a ¥19 million impairment loss on business assets whose profitability had declined, both as extraordinary losses. After carefully reviewing the recoverability of deferred tax assets in light of business trends, it drew down those assets and expects to record a ¥74 million income tax adjustment charge.

Despite the extraordinary losses and tax expenses, net profit is expected to exceed the previous forecast because of the higher ordinary profit.
