The company said first-half profit was strong as prescription unit prices at its dispensing pharmacy business, for both drug and technical fees, exceeded plan, while efficiency gains in managing rental equipment at its silver (senior care) business continued from the previous year. It expects the pharmacy business to sustain its first-half momentum from the third quarter onward and will consolidate QLC Produce, which joined the group in July 2026, from the third quarter.

Operating and ordinary profit, previously forecast to decline year on year, are now expected to rise, with all profit lines including net profit projected at record levels. Tokai said it now expects to reach the ¥9.5 billion consolidated operating profit target of its medium-term plan, set for the fiscal year ending March 2028, one year early.

The dividend increase follows a policy announced May 12, 2026, that raised the payout ratio guideline to 40% from 35% and introduced a progressive dividend of maintaining or raising the per-share payout. The interim dividend stays at ¥40. The annual dividend was ¥68 in the previous fiscal year.

Next steps: The interim dividend will be submitted to a board meeting scheduled for November 2026, and the year-end dividend to the 72nd annual shareholders' meeting scheduled for June 2027. Tokai plans to announce specific figures for the fiscal year ending March 2028 after reviewing macroeconomic trends and business progress.
