Nihon Koku Denshi Kogyo cuts FY net profit forecast to ¥5.0 billion, lifts sales view

Nihon Koku Denshi Kogyo (6807) on Oct. 28 cut its net profit forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 to ¥5.0 billion from ¥6.0 billion while raising its sales forecast to ¥255.0 billion from ¥240.0 billion, after first-half net profit fell 55.4% to ¥1.39 billion.

FY net profit forecast¥5.0 billion (prev. ¥6.0 billion)
FY sales forecast¥255.0 billion (prev. ¥240.0 billion)
FY operating profit forecast¥10.5 billion (prev. ¥9.5 billion)
H1 net profit¥1.39 billion (down 55.4%)

First-half (April-September) sales rose 11.9% year on year to ¥123.56 billion, 3.0% above the company's April 24 forecast. Operating profit fell 31.1% to ¥3.28 billion and ordinary profit dropped 53.9% to ¥2.18 billion. Net profit attributable to owners of the parent came in 48.5% below the ¥2.7 billion forecast, and earnings per share were ¥20.62.

The company said weak demand for some mobile devices including smartphones was offset by solid demand in the automotive and industrial/infrastructure markets, keeping sales broadly on plan. Profits were weighed down by lower-than-expected demand in some markets in the first quarter, a further rise in raw material prices including copper, higher labor and other costs, and a foreign exchange loss.

For the full year, the company expects growing demand for ADAS products from Japanese automotive customers and further gains in industrial and infrastructure markets driven by investment in AI semiconductors and data centers. Operating profit is now seen above the previous forecast on higher sales, price optimization, cost reductions and recovery of development costs, but ordinary and net profit forecasts were lowered due to higher non-operating expenses including the first-half foreign exchange loss. The outlook assumes an exchange rate of ¥155 per U.S. dollar for the second half.

The interim dividend is ¥25 per share, down from ¥30 a year earlier. The year-end dividend forecast of ¥25, for an annual total of ¥50 versus ¥60 in the previous year, was left unchanged.

The company plans to file its semiannual report on Nov. 13, 2026, and to begin paying the interim dividend on Dec. 2, 2026.
