VIA Holdings Inc. (7918) on Oct. 20 raised its net profit forecast for the year ending March 2027 to ¥270 million from ¥30 million, while trimming its sales forecast to ¥17.1 billion from ¥17.4 billion.

FY net profit forecast¥270 million (from ¥30 million)
FY operating profit forecast¥520 million (from ¥370 million)
H1 net profit forecast¥298 million (from ¥30 million)
Class C preferred redemption funds¥800 million

The company also lifted its operating profit forecast to ¥520 million from ¥370 million. It posted a net loss of ¥512 million in the previous fiscal year.

For the April-September first half, VIA cut its sales forecast to ¥8,596 million from ¥8,750 million but raised net profit to ¥298 million from ¥30 million and operating profit to ¥351 million from ¥200 million.

The company said bad weather on weekends from mid-August pushed customer numbers below plan in some formats. Profit gains came from group-wide staffing optimization, consolidated purchasing and logistics, and digital store-operation reforms that progressed faster than expected, plus lower executive costs after shifting to a company with an audit and supervisory committee. A ¥139 million relocation compensation gain exceeded the ¥100 million built into the earlier forecast, and expected extraordinary losses came in ¥90 million lower. For the second half, VIA expects sales to fall short of the prior forecast at a rate similar to the first half, with its operating profit plan largely unchanged.

Separately, VIA reallocated ¥1,514 million of proceeds from its 28th series stock acquisition rights, originally earmarked for M&A, to ¥800 million for redeeming Class C preferred shares and ¥714 million for M&A. The Class C shares carry an 8.5% annual dividend; redemption would eliminate about ¥63 million in annual preferred dividends and potential dilution, the company said. The rights holder agreed to the change, and VIA said the impact on this fiscal year's results is minor.

The redemption funds are slated for spending between March 2027 and March 2028 to acquire the remaining 750 Class C shares in stages, with timing and share counts to be announced once decided. Any M&A funds unused by the end of March 2031 will go toward repaying borrowings.
