Toho Lamac said rubber shoes, sneakers and other products held firm, but its mainstay women's and men's shoes struggled. Lower sales and higher cost of sales due to the weaker yen weighed on operating profit. Non-operating expenses rose on higher interest payments, a valuation loss on crypto assets and special investigation costs. The crypto valuation loss stood at ¥27 million for the first half and ¥8 million for the nine months. A reversal of the provision for directors' retirement benefits, booked as extraordinary income, did not offset the ordinary loss.

In nine-month results released the same day, covering the period to Sept. 20, sales fell 2.2% to ¥3.308 billion. The operating loss was ¥78 million, the ordinary loss ¥102 million and the net loss ¥56 million, compared with losses of ¥71 million, ¥44 million and ¥52 million a year earlier. Women's shoe sales fell 8.1% to ¥1.576 billion and men's shoes dropped 26.7% to ¥636 million, while rubber shoes, sneakers and others rose 6.5% to ¥778 million.

The company kept its annual dividend forecast unchanged at ¥11.40 per share.
