Meitec Group Holdings Inc. (9744) cut its first-half net profit forecast by 40.0% to ¥3.9 billion from ¥6.5 billion, citing an expected impairment loss of about ¥3.0 billion after deciding to stop using a training facility at its registered head office.

H1 net profit forecast (revised)¥3.9 billion
Impairment loss (estimate)about ¥3.0 billion
H1 operating profit forecast (revised)¥10.1 billion
Interim dividend (unchanged)¥85 per share

The board approved the decision on Sept. 29, revising the forecast for the six months ending Sept. 30, 2026 that the company issued on May 12. Revenue is now projected at ¥68.8 billion, down from ¥69.5 billion, while operating profit was raised to ¥10.1 billion from ¥9.5 billion and ordinary profit to ¥10.2 billion from ¥9.6 billion. Earnings per share were revised to ¥50.51 from ¥84.19.

The facilities, led by the Atsugi Techno Center in Atsugi, Kanagawa Prefecture, are mainly used for training. The company said utilization is low due to poor transport access with no improvement expected, and maintenance costs are heavy as the buildings are more than 30 years old. It plans to sell the property; once the sale is completed, the group will hold no real estate. Because the site is its registered head office, the company plans to propose an amendment to its articles of incorporation at next June's annual shareholders' meeting.

Revenue is expected to fall slightly short of the initial forecast mainly because working hours in its core engineer dispatch business, part of the engineering solutions segment, came in below initial assumptions. Operating and ordinary profit are expected to beat the initial forecast.

The interim dividend forecast of ¥85 per share was left unchanged.

Next steps: Meitec plans to report first-half results on Oct. 29, when it will also disclose its full-year earnings and year-end dividend forecasts for the fiscal year ending March 2027. The articles amendment is slated for next June's shareholders' meeting.
