In the same period a year earlier, the company posted net sales of ¥13.61 billion and net profit of ¥528 million.

In its engineering business, clients in the mainstay automotive field, including in-vehicle system development, revised development plans, leading to existing projects being scaled back or ended, while revenue recognition on some large projects was delayed. In the product/device business, prices of semiconductors and key components rose and procurement became difficult, and a lag in passing costs on to selling prices worsened the cost-of-sales ratio.

Subsidiary Privatech was included in consolidated results only for the first quarter; from the second quarter it is accounted for under the equity method, with its results booked as non-operating income or loss.

For the second half, the company said it will shift engineers freed up from automotive projects to growth areas with solid demand and pursue large upstream consulting and security deals. It said price negotiations in the product/device business are progressing appropriately, and it will tighten procurement rules and cut costs company-wide.

Expecting a second-half recovery, the company kept its full-year forecast of net sales of ¥26.27 billion, operating profit of ¥1.81 billion, ordinary profit of ¥1.90 billion and net profit of ¥1.26 billion.
