Yamato Kogyo raises FY net profit forecast to ¥62.0 billion, lifts dividend to ¥420

Yamato Kogyo Co., Ltd. (5444) on Nov. 2 raised its net profit forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 to ¥62.0 billion from ¥57.5 billion and lifted its annual dividend forecast to ¥420 per share from ¥400.

FY net profit forecast¥62.0 billion (from ¥57.5 billion)
FY ordinary profit forecast¥95.5 billion (from ¥87.0 billion)
Annual dividend forecast¥420 per share (from ¥400)
1H operating profit¥224 million

For the April-September first half, net sales rose 10.3% from a year earlier to ¥84.0 billion, while operating profit fell 88.7% to ¥224 million, short of the company's July 31 forecast of ¥800 million. Ordinary profit rose 65.0% to ¥46.1 billion, and net profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 44.0% to ¥27.6 billion.

The company attributed the operating profit shortfall mainly to weaker earnings at the steel business of its domestic consolidated subsidiary, including an inventory write-down under the lower-of-cost method. The Japan steel segment posted a segment loss of ¥3.0 billion on sales of ¥20.7 billion; Yamato Steel halted operations for two months in May and June for preparatory work ahead of a rolling-mill upgrade.

For the full year, the company cut its operating profit forecast, factoring in tough conditions at the domestic steel business and a recovery expected to take longer than planned. It raised its ordinary and net profit forecasts, citing the continued weak yen and results at its U.S. equity-method affiliate running further ahead of expectations. The new net profit forecast is 0.6% below the prior year's ¥62.4 billion.

The interim dividend is scheduled to be paid from Dec. 3, 2026, and the company plans to file its semiannual report on Nov. 13, 2026.
