Seven Kogyo (7896) on Oct. 21 cut its non-consolidated forecast for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2027, now projecting an operating loss of ¥58 million versus a previously forecast ¥22 million profit, with the net loss widening to ¥72 million.

Full-year forecastUnchanged from April 30, 2026

The revision covers the six months from April 1 to Sept. 30, 2026, and replaces a forecast issued on April 30, 2026. Sales were raised 1.0% to ¥8,187 million from ¥8,104 million, but ordinary profit is now expected to swing to a loss of ¥52 million from a projected ¥13 million profit. The net loss per share is forecast at ¥16.32, compared with ¥4.03 previously.

Operating profit¥22 million-¥58 million-¥80 million
Ordinary profit¥13 million-¥52 million-¥65 million
Net profit-¥18 million-¥72 million-¥54 million

The company said resource prices rose because of the situation in the Middle East and lead times lengthened across the supply chain, with cost increases in its interior building materials business in particular exceeding expectations. One-time expenses, including upfront investment in a new staircase business, also weighed on results.

In the same period a year earlier, the company posted sales of ¥7,693 million, operating profit of ¥2 million, ordinary profit of ¥6 million and a net loss of ¥29 million.

The full-year forecast announced on April 30, 2026, was left unchanged. The company said elevated raw material prices are expected to remain a burden on profitability, but that additional price revisions, a review of fixed costs and staffing, and productivity improvements should begin to take effect. It said it would disclose promptly if a further revision becomes necessary.
