Tokyo Seitetsu (5423) on Oct. 16 raised its non-consolidated net profit forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 to ¥7.0 billion from ¥1.0 billion, and now expects an operating profit of ¥1.0 billion instead of a ¥4.0 billion loss.

FY net profit forecast¥7.0 billion (prev. ¥1.0 billion)
FY operating profit forecast¥1.0 billion (prev. loss of ¥4.0 billion)
FY revenue forecast¥326.0 billion (prev. ¥315.0 billion)
1H net profit forecast¥2.25 billion (prev. ¥1.0 billion)

For the April-September first half, the steelmaker cut its revenue forecast by 3.0% to ¥150.4 billion from ¥155.0 billion. It narrowed its projected operating loss to ¥3.5 billion from ¥4.0 billion, while the expected recurring loss widened to ¥3.15 billion from ¥3.0 billion. First-half net profit is now forecast at ¥2.25 billion, up 125.0% from the previous ¥1.0 billion, or ¥22.09 per share.

Revised full-year (April 2026-March 2027) non-consolidated forecasts:

ItemPreviousRevised
Revenue¥315.0 billion¥326.0 billion
Operating profit-¥4.0 billion¥1.0 billion
Recurring profit-¥2.5 billion¥2.0 billion
Net profit¥1.0 billion¥7.0 billion
EPS¥9.81¥69.28

In the fiscal year ended March 2026, the company posted revenue of ¥268.1 billion and net profit of ¥11.56 billion.

The company said product shipment prices rose as planned in the first half, while purchase prices for steel scrap, its main raw material, came in below assumptions, improving operating profit against plan. Asset sales are also expected to lift first-half net profit above plan. It expects the price revisions it has implemented to be reflected progressively in shipment prices, bringing full-year operating profit back into the black, and said it will continue cutting costs, including reducing raw material use.

The company cautioned that actual results could vary significantly depending on steel scrap prices and steel market conditions. The previous forecasts were issued on July 17, 2026.
