Senshukai cuts forecast to ¥500 million net loss, sets year-end dividend at zero

Senshukai (8165) on Oct. 30 cut its forecast for the year ending December 2026, now projecting a net loss attributable to owners of the parent of ¥500 million versus a previous break-even forecast, and set its year-end dividend at zero.

FY net income forecastloss of ¥500 million (previously zero)
FY revenue forecast¥39.0 billion (previously ¥41.0 billion)
Year-end dividend¥0
Gain on subsidiary sale¥396 million

The mail-order retailer lowered its revenue forecast to ¥39.0 billion from ¥41.0 billion and widened its projected operating and ordinary losses to ¥1.9 billion each from ¥1.2 billion. It cited order shortfalls as rising prices made consumers more frugal and as the benefits of its 2025-2027 turnaround plan, centered on a digital shift in its mail-order business, took longer to materialize. Lower orders also increased clearance sales of inventory, reducing gross profit.

ItemPreviousRevisedFY2025 actual
Revenue¥41.0 billion¥39.0 billion¥42.07 billion
Operating loss¥1.2 billion¥1.9 billion¥2.59 billion
Net income¥0-¥500 million¥3.94 billion

The net loss forecast includes an expected extraordinary gain of ¥396 million from the sale of all 4,000 shares in wholly owned nursery operator Senshukai Child Care to Osaka-based Like, offset by expected one-time costs tied to further restructuring. The sale price was not disclosed, citing confidentiality obligations.

For the January-September period, revenue fell 6.1% to ¥28,194 million. The operating loss narrowed to ¥1,997 million from ¥2,597 million a year earlier, and the company posted a net loss of ¥842 million against a net profit of ¥3,869 million a year earlier.

Senshukai had left its year-end dividend undecided; it now plans no dividend for the year.

The share transfer is scheduled for Dec. 1, 2026. Senshukai plans to report full-year results on Feb. 12, 2027, when it will also disclose numerical targets for the year ending December 2027.
