Noda cuts FY outlook, now sees ¥100 million net loss vs. ¥200 million profit

Noda Corp. (7879), a Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard-listed building materials maker, on Oct. 14, 2026 cut its forecast for the year ending November 2026 to a net loss of ¥100 million from a previously projected profit of ¥200 million, and lowered its operating profit outlook 33.3% to ¥400 million from ¥600 million.

FY net profit forecastloss of ¥100 million (prev. profit of ¥200 million)
FY operating profit forecast¥400 million (down 33.3%)
Nine-month net profit¥557 million
Annual dividend forecast¥30 per share (unchanged)

The company kept its sales forecast at ¥65.0 billion. It said sales volume remains sluggish amid weak housing demand, but higher selling prices for domestic softwood plywood and price revisions for building materials and MDF products should keep sales roughly in line with its initial projection. Persistently high costs, including rising raw material prices, are squeezing profit. The revised forecast factors in possible impairment losses at the fiscal year-end.

For the nine months from Dec. 1, 2025 to Aug. 31, 2026, Noda reported sales of ¥48.29 billion, up 2.0% from a year earlier. Operating profit was ¥206 million, compared with ¥3 million, and ordinary profit was ¥20 million, versus a loss of ¥25 million. Net profit attributable to owners of the parent came to ¥557 million, compared with a loss of ¥472 million, helped by gains on sales of investment securities.

The wood-based building materials segment posted sales of ¥29.17 billion, down 0.2%, with segment profit falling 20.6% to ¥396 million. Third-quarter price revisions had some effect on profitability, but sales volume did not fully recover. The plywood segment's sales rose 5.6% to ¥19.12 billion and segment profit rose 80.9% to ¥1.215 billion.

Noda left its annual dividend forecast unchanged at ¥30 per share, consisting of ¥15 at the end of the first half and ¥15 at year-end.

The fiscal year ends Nov. 30, 2026. The company said it will promptly disclose any impairment loss that is actually incurred and requires disclosure.
