Nanyo said demand from public and private construction projects was strong in the rental division of its construction machinery business, improving the utilization rate of its rental equipment. In its industrial equipment business, sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment and other products were firm against a backdrop of recovering capital spending demand, and factory utilization also rose.

The company left its full-year forecasts, both consolidated and non-consolidated, unchanged. It cited concerns over rising crude oil and raw material prices stemming from the situation in the Middle East, unstable procurement of components and a worsening labor shortage, saying the outlook is expected to remain uncertain.
