Thu, Oct 08, 2026 15:30 JST Ministop Co., Ltd. (9946.T) Convenience stores 中文

Ministop Co., Ltd. (9946) on Oct. 8, 2026 cut its consolidated forecast for the fiscal year ending February 2027 to a net loss of ¥5.0 billion, from a previously projected profit of ¥100 million.

FY net profit forecastLoss of ¥5.0 billion (previously profit of ¥100 million)
FY operating profit forecastLoss of ¥2.8 billion (previously profit of ¥1.5 billion)
First-half net loss¥3.995 billion
Impairment loss¥869 million

The company kept its operating revenue forecast at ¥97.0 billion but now projects an operating loss of ¥2.8 billion, compared with a previously forecast profit of ¥1.5 billion, and an ordinary loss of ¥2.3 billion, against an earlier ¥1.9 billion profit. Loss per share is projected at ¥172.37.

ItemPrevious forecastRevised forecast
Operating revenue¥97.0 billion¥97.0 billion
Operating profit¥1.5 billion-¥2.8 billion
Ordinary profit¥1.9 billion-¥2.3 billion
Net profit¥100 million-¥5.0 billion

For the March-August first half, operating revenue rose 4.8% to ¥51.073 billion, but Ministop posted an operating loss of ¥2.836 billion and a net loss of ¥3.995 billion, compared with a net profit of ¥502 million a year earlier. It booked an impairment loss of ¥869 million on store and rental assets in the June-August quarter, which is reflected in the revised outlook.

The company said efforts to offset lower sales of in-store handmade rice balls by expanding daily food items, hot snacks and cold desserts fell short of plan due to delays in daily food and hot snack lineups and unseasonable weather, leaving sales and gross margin below target. Full-year revenue is expected to meet the earlier forecast as higher sales from more directly operated stores offset lower royalty income from franchisees.

In the second half, Ministop plans to strengthen in-store prepared foods and daily items, expand delivery services and cut the number of directly operated stores. It closed 75 unprofitable stores in the first half, against a full-year plan of 80.

The interim dividend is ¥10 per share, and the full-year dividend forecast of ¥20 is unchanged. The company plans to file its semiannual report on Oct. 9, 2026, and begin paying the interim dividend on Nov. 12, 2026.
