Takara Holdings nearly doubles first-half net profit forecast to ¥11.68 billion

Takara Holdings Inc. (2531) on Oct. 23 raised its first-half net profit forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 to ¥11.68 billion from ¥5.9 billion, an increase of 98.0%.

Net profit forecast revision+98.0%
H1 operating profit forecast (revised)¥13.11 billion
Q1 net profit¥3.63 billion (down 12.4%)

The company also lifted its first-half (April 1-Sept. 30, 2026) projections for net sales, operating profit and ordinary profit, revising guidance issued on May 13, 2026. Earnings per share are now forecast at ¥60.87, up from ¥30.59.

Operating profit¥8.8 billion¥13.11 billion+49.0%
Ordinary profit¥7.8 billion¥12.76 billion+63.6%
Net profit attributable to owners of parent¥5.9 billion¥11.68 billion+98.0%

At Takara Shuzo, demand brought forward ahead of an October 2026 price revision fell short of expectations, leaving sales below the previous forecast, but more efficient use of selling, general and administrative expenses is expected to lift operating profit above plan despite currency effects and higher packaging costs. Takara Shuzo International Group's overseas alcoholic beverage and overseas Japanese food wholesale businesses both beat sales forecasts, with operating profit boosted by price revisions, reciprocal tariff refunds and currency effects. Takara Bio Group expects sales below its earlier forecast due to weaker reagent sales, but a narrower operating loss as SG&A falls on a revision of consideration tied to Spatial product development and sales.

In first-quarter results (April-June 2026) released the same day, net sales rose 10.6% to ¥103.21 billion, while operating profit fell 14.7% to ¥2.95 billion and net profit attributable to owners of the parent declined 12.4% to ¥3.63 billion. Extraordinary losses included tender offer-related expenses and restructuring costs such as special severance payments for an early retirement program at Takara Bio. The company kept its year-end dividend forecast unchanged at ¥31.00 per share.

The full-year forecast is under review and will be announced with first-half results scheduled for Nov. 10, 2026.
