Riso Kagaku Corporation (6413) said first-half net profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 40.4% to ¥2,513 million, and its board approved a buyback of up to 210,000 shares, or ¥200 million.
Results for the six months from April 1 to Sept. 30, 2026:
| Item | Amount | YoY |
|---|---|---|
| Net sales | ¥41,550 million | +10.4% |
| Operating profit | ¥3,382 million | +33.1% |

Earnings per share were ¥40.11, compared with ¥27.96 a year earlier.
The company said overseas sales were lifted by the weaker yen and the partial acquisition in the first quarter of shares in the successor company of its Philippine distributor. In Japan, a consumables price revision pulled demand forward in the first quarter; despite a partial reversal in the second quarter, domestic sales exceeded the prior-year level. Excluding these effects, sales were roughly flat. SG&A expenses included ¥320 million in acquisition-related costs, and the company booked a ¥527 million gain on the sale of investment securities as extraordinary income. The printing equipment business posted sales of ¥40,601 million, up 10.3%, and segment profit of ¥3,195 million, up 34.5%.
Riso Kagaku revised its full-year forecast to net sales of ¥84.1 billion, operating profit of ¥5.6 billion, ordinary profit of ¥5.6 billion and net profit of ¥4.5 billion, or ¥72.09 per share. It kept its year-end dividend forecast at ¥50.
The buyback covers up to 210,000 shares, or 0.34% of shares outstanding excluding treasury stock, through market purchases on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The company held 9,834,216 treasury shares as of Sept. 30, 2026.
Next steps: shares will be acquired from Nov. 19 to Dec. 23, 2026 (trade basis). The semi-annual securities report is scheduled for Nov. 10, and an on-demand earnings presentation video is set for release on Nov. 13.
