Cookbiz Co. (6558), a Tokyo Growth-listed recruiter specializing in the food service industry, on Oct. 14 cut its forecast for the year ending November 2026 to a net loss of ¥338 million from a previously projected ¥80 million profit, and said it will solicit voluntary retirements.

FY net profit forecast¥338 million loss (prev. ¥80 million profit)
FY revenue forecast¥2.826 billion (prev. ¥3.24 billion)
FY operating forecast¥293 million loss (prev. ¥80 million profit)
9-month operating loss¥230 million

Revenue is now projected at ¥2.826 billion, down 12.8% from the ¥3.24 billion forecast published on Jan. 13. The company sees an operating loss of ¥293 million and an ordinary loss of ¥318 million, compared with earlier projected profits of ¥80 million and ¥60 million, respectively. Projected loss per share is ¥121.26, versus earnings per share of ¥28.69 previously.

In the core HR business, Cookbiz said leading indicators such as applications and interview conversion rates had recovered to normal levels, but turning them into sales was taking longer than expected. The segment is now forecast to post an operating loss of ¥184 million instead of a ¥30 million profit, on revenue of ¥1.637 billion versus ¥1.9 billion previously.

In the investment business, subsidiary Kyuichi Co. faced lower scallop selling prices and booked an inventory valuation loss, while Maruhiro Ota Shokuhin Co. could not absorb fixed costs during its off-season. The segment is now expected to post an operating loss of ¥109 million instead of a ¥50 million profit.

For the nine months through Aug. 31, revenue fell 2.4% to ¥2.073 billion. The operating loss narrowed to ¥230 million from ¥286 million, and the net loss attributable to owners of the parent narrowed to ¥245 million from ¥325 million.

Cookbiz said a review of its current business structure alone would not readily restore profitability, and it will pursue more fundamental restructuring, including the voluntary retirement program. TECH CREW Co., consolidated from July 1, 2026, is included in the balance sheet from the end of the third quarter but not in the nine-month income statement. The year-end dividend forecast remains undecided.
