Medipal Holdings Corporation (7459) on Oct. 23 raised its forecast for full-year net profit attributable to owners of the parent for the fiscal year ending March 2027 to ¥53.0 billion from ¥43.0 billion, up 23.3%, and announced it would buy back up to ¥10 billion of its own shares and cancel them.

Buyback cap¥10 billion / 4 million shares

The company attributed the revision mainly to gains from reducing its strategic shareholdings. Between May and October 2026, it sold holdings in eight listed companies, generating a gain on sales of investment securities of ¥15.49 billion, booked as extraordinary income. Of that, ¥6.06 billion was already recorded in the first quarter of the current fiscal year.

The sales were carried out in line with the Corporate Governance Code and a policy on management conscious of cost of capital and stock price that the company disclosed on May 13, 2025.

Forecasts for net sales, operating profit and ordinary profit for the year ending March 31, 2027, were left unchanged from those announced on July 14. The earnings per share forecast was raised to ¥258.92 from ¥210.06.

The buyback covers up to 4 million shares, or 2.0% of shares outstanding excluding treasury stock, through market purchases on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Medipal said it would use proceeds from the securities sales, among other funds, to improve capital efficiency and enhance shareholder returns. All repurchased shares will be cancelled. As of Sept. 30, 2026, the company had 204,698,231 shares outstanding excluding treasury stock and held 11,276,811 treasury shares.
