Marudai Shokuhin (2288) on Oct. 26 cut its consolidated operating profit forecast for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2027 by 66.3% to ¥1.45 billion from ¥4.3 billion.

H1 operating profit forecast¥4.3 billion → ¥1.45 billion
H1 net profit forecast¥3.2 billion → ¥1.5 billion
H1 net sales forecast¥123.0 billion → ¥121.7 billion
Full-year forecast dueNov. 9, 2026

The company also lowered its forecast for net profit attributable to owners of the parent by 53.1% to ¥1.5 billion from ¥3.2 billion, or ¥62.43 per share versus ¥133.16 previously. The previous forecasts were announced on May 14, 2026, and cover the six months from April 1 to Sept. 30, 2026.

ItemPreviousRevisedChangeYear-earlier actual
Net sales¥123.0 billion¥121.7 billion-1.1%¥120.29 billion
Operating profit¥4.3 billion¥1.45 billion-66.3%¥4.21 billion
Ordinary profit¥4.5 billion¥1.7 billion-62.2%¥4.442 billion
Net profit attributable to parent¥3.2 billion¥1.5 billion-53.1%¥3.194 billion

Sales are expected to fall short of the previous forecast as sales of processed foods, mainly ham and sausages, came in below plan and were flat year on year, although sales in the meat business were in line with expectations, partly reflecting high market prices.

On the profit side, costs including raw materials rose slightly more than assumed. Price revisions, pursued while monitoring market trends, have progressed more slowly than initially expected, and their effect is taking time to materialize. Sales volumes also declined in some categories such as ham and sausages.

Of the ¥2.85 billion reduction in operating profit from the previous forecast, unit price factors accounted for ¥1.4 billion, volume and product mix factors for ¥900 million, and other factors for ¥550 million.

The company said its full-year consolidated forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 is under review, including the outlook for the progress of price revisions, and will be announced together with its first-half earnings report (kessan tanshin) scheduled for Nov. 9, 2026.
