The industrial sewing machine maker said customers in Bangladesh, India and other Asian markets remained cautious on capital spending due in part to the Middle East situation, while its automotive business faced higher raw material costs and lower utilization. Foreign exchange losses and higher tax expenses at overseas subsidiaries also weighed.

For the April-September first half, sales fell 13.4% to ¥9.88 billion and operating profit dropped 88.2% to ¥79 million. Net loss attributable to owners of the parent was ¥225 million, compared with a ¥414 million profit a year earlier.

The interim dividend was ¥15, and the prior year's annual dividend was ¥30. The company said the higher payout brings forward shareholder returns under its medium-term plan, which targets ROE of 7.5% in fiscal 2029 and a policy of DOE of 6% or more in principle.

Separately, Singapore subsidiary PEGASUS SEWING MACHINE PTE. LTD. will transfer its industrial sewing machine and parts sales business to Malaysian subsidiary PEGASUS UNITED ASIA SDN. BHD. and then be dissolved and liquidated. The company expects the transfer itself to have a limited impact on consolidated results; the liquidation impact is under review.

The interim dividend payment is scheduled to begin Nov. 27, 2026, and an online results briefing for analysts and institutional investors is set for Nov. 16, with materials posted Nov. 12. The business transfer is slated for fiscal 2027 and liquidation completion for fiscal 2028.
