Yamato International Inc. (8127) on Oct. 2 cut its consolidated forecast for the year through August 2026, now projecting an operating loss of ¥290 million instead of a ¥180 million profit, on net sales of ¥19.88 billion.

The Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard-listed company's revision replaces the forecast it announced on March 27, 2026, for the period from Sept. 1, 2025, to Aug. 31, 2026. Net sales were lowered by ¥620 million, or 3.0%, from ¥20.5 billion, and ordinary profit was revised to a ¥100 million loss from a ¥270 million profit. The forecast for net profit attributable to owners of the parent was left unchanged at ¥200 million, or ¥9.77 per share.

The company said consumers have grown more defensive about spending as inflation takes hold, and their response to prices that have risen in recent years continues to shift. Although it developed higher value-added products and introduced more affordable entry-level price points, spring-summer full-price sales were sluggish, with Father's Day sales at Crocodile Men's particularly weak. It accelerated discount sales in the latter half of the season to bring inventory to appropriate levels, pushing profit in particular below its earlier forecast.

On a parent-only basis, net sales were also cut to ¥19.88 billion, ordinary profit was revised to a ¥160 million loss from a ¥240 million profit, and net profit was lowered 5.6% to ¥170 million from ¥180 million, or ¥8.30 per share from ¥8.79, for the same reasons. The dividend forecast was not changed.
