Osaki Denki Kogyo (6644) on Nov. 5 cut its net profit forecast for the year ending March 2027 by 37.5% to ¥3.0 billion and announced a buyback of up to 2 million shares, or ¥3.0 billion, along with the cancellation of 2.5 million treasury shares.

Revised net profit forecast¥3.0 billion (from ¥4.8 billion)
Buyback ceiling2 million shares / ¥3.0 billion
Buyback periodNov. 6, 2026-April 30, 2027
Shares to be cancelled2.5 million shares

The company now expects operating profit of ¥6.1 billion, down from the ¥8.1 billion it forecast on May 12, on sales of ¥100.0 billion versus ¥101.0 billion previously. Ordinary profit is seen at ¥6.3 billion, from ¥8.1 billion. Forecast earnings per share were lowered to ¥68.37 from ¥108.66.

Osaki said sales of meters and instruments to non-utility customers and of smart locks in its domestic solutions business would fall short of plan, while sales in Oceania declined in its overseas metering and control business. Profit was further hit by weaker profitability on some overseas projects and higher raw material and component costs.

The annual dividend forecast was kept at ¥49 per share, comprising an interim ¥29, including a ¥10 special dividend, and a year-end ¥20.

For the April-September first half, sales rose 2.3% to ¥46.5 billion, a first-half record. Operating profit climbed 37.8% to ¥2.59 billion, and net profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 94.0% to ¥1.34 billion.

The buyback ceiling represents 4.61% of shares outstanding excluding treasury stock, with purchases to be made on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The cancellation covers 5.33% of issued shares and will leave 44,417,180 shares issued.

The buyback runs from Nov. 6, 2026 to April 30, 2027, and the share cancellation is scheduled for Nov. 30, 2026. The company plans to file its semiannual report on Nov. 13, and interim dividend payments begin Dec. 7.
