Tokai Senko (3577) on Oct. 23 cut its net profit forecast for the year ending March 2027 by 60.0% to ¥100 million from ¥250 million, and said it would sell holdings in two listed stocks for an estimated gain of about ¥360 million that is not included in the new forecast.

The company now expects full-year sales of ¥14.0 billion, down 3.4% from the ¥14.5 billion projected on July 24, 2026, and operating profit of ¥150 million, down 66.7% from ¥450 million. Earnings per share are seen at ¥31.68, versus ¥79.20 previously.

For the first half through Sept. 30, Tokai Senko now expects an operating loss of ¥80 million and a net loss of ¥20 million, compared with earlier forecasts of profits of ¥70 million and ¥50 million, on sales of ¥6.6 billion instead of ¥6.9 billion.

The company said uniform orders from both private-sector and government customers fell in its domestic dyeing business. Overseas, prices for chemicals including caustic soda stayed high due to the situation in the Middle East, and surging coal and gas costs pushed up unit costs. It expects a weaker yen and Indonesian rupiah to keep prices and raw-material costs elevated in the second half.

The board also resolved to sell part of its investment securities, two listed stocks, to reduce strategic shareholdings under a capital strategy disclosed on Dec. 19, 2025. The estimated gain is based on current share prices and may change. Part of it will be booked as an extraordinary gain in the year ending March 2027; the impact on results is under review.

Next steps: The sales are scheduled from November 2026 through the end of April 2027. The company said it will promptly announce any further forecast revision if needed.
