Yonkyu Co., Ltd. (9955) on Nov. 2 issued its first consolidated forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027, projecting net profit attributable to owners of the parent of ¥1.6 billion, down 57.7%, on sales of ¥51.0 billion, while reporting first-half operating profit of ¥1.30 billion, up 154.9%.

FY sales forecast¥51.0 billion (up 7.0%)
FY net profit forecast¥1.6 billion (down 57.7%)
H1 operating profit¥1.30 billion (up 154.9%)
H1 sales¥25.52 billion (up 21.2%)

The Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard-listed company had withheld the forecast when it released full-year results on May 7, 2026. It cited the outbreak of military conflict involving Iran at the end of February, which brought a surge in heavy oil and other prices, supply constraints, difficulty procuring materials, price increases and higher logistics costs, while rising prices weighed on consumer spending. The company said conditions, though still unsettled, were stabilizing and its core businesses were performing steadily.

For the April-September half, sales rose 21.2% to ¥25.52 billion and recurring profit climbed 134.7% to ¥1.54 billion. Net profit fell 62.0% to ¥1.04 billion, as the year-earlier period included an extraordinary gain on the sale of investment securities.

Sales in the fresh fish segment rose 2.1% to ¥14.1 billion as fish prices stayed high, while the bait and feed segment jumped 57.5% to ¥11.4 billion on higher volumes of both raw bait and formulated feed. The eel farming business posted an operating loss as selling prices fell amid high farming costs.

Total assets stood at ¥56.19 billion at the end of September, with an equity ratio of 75.7%, up from 73.7% at the end of the previous fiscal year. The interim dividend was zero and the year-end dividend remains undecided; the company said its basic policy is stable dividends.

Yonkyu plans to file its semi-annual securities report on Nov. 13, 2026.
