Tsugami (6101) on Oct. 20 raised its operating profit forecast for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2027 by 29.2% to ¥25.2 billion and increased its interim dividend to ¥61 a share from ¥49.

The Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime-listed company said that although uncertainty across the market persists, steady business progress at its locations, led by the Chinese and Indian markets, is expected to push both revenue and profit above the forecasts it issued on May 13. It now projects revenue of ¥81.2 billion for April-September 2026, up 8.3% from the previous forecast, and profit attributable to owners of the parent of ¥12.3 billion, up 36.7%. Basic earnings per share are forecast at ¥268.13.

Citing the higher profit, Tsugami raised its interim dividend by ¥12 to ¥61. It left its year-end dividend forecast unchanged at ¥49, saying that figure will be announced together with the full-year earnings forecast, which is under review. The annual dividend forecast thus stands at ¥110, compared with ¥98 previously and ¥85 for the year ended March 2026.

Separately, the board resolved to cancel 1.5 million treasury shares, or 3.13% of total shares issued before the cancellation, under Article 178 of the Companies Act. Afterward, the company will have 46.5 million shares issued and 442,587 treasury shares.

Next steps: the cancellation is scheduled for Oct. 27, 2026. Tsugami plans to publish its full-year forecast for the year ending March 2027, along with the year-end dividend forecast, when it reports second-quarter results, scheduled for Nov. 12.
