Shionogi & Co. (4507) on Oct. 29 raised its forecast for the year ending March 2027, lifting projected revenue to ¥720.0 billion from ¥700.0 billion and net profit attributable to owners of the parent to ¥212.5 billion from ¥210.0 billion, and increased its annual dividend forecast to ¥86 a share from ¥76.

For the April-September first half, revenue rose 64.5% from a year earlier to ¥350.4 billion, a record for the period, the company said. Operating profit climbed 55.8% to ¥115.2 billion, and net profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 44.0% to ¥119.5 billion. Royalty income totaled ¥165.4 billion, while sales by overseas subsidiaries and exports rose 210.2% to ¥95.0 billion.

Pretax profit¥220.0 billion¥220.5 billion
Net profit (parent)¥210.0 billion¥212.5 billion

Shionogi said first-half revenue and all profit items exceeded its forecast as growth investments made in fiscal 2025 began to contribute. Drivers included the edaravone ALS business taken over from Tanabe Pharma, sold as RADICAVA in the U.S. and Canada, expanding cefiderocol sales in the U.S. and Europe, and growth of its insomnia treatment in Japan. GSK, the parent of ViiV Healthcare, raised ViiV's forecast, and Shionogi expects higher royalty income and equity-method investment income. The company expects selling, general and administrative expenses to rise on amortization of intangible assets from its acquisition of U.S.-based IntraBio and continued U.S. investment.

The interim dividend was set at ¥40 a share, and the year-end payout forecast was raised to ¥46 from ¥38. The ¥86 annual total, up ¥15 from the previous year, would mark a 15th consecutive annual increase. Shionogi targets a dividend-on-equity (DOE) ratio of 4% or more.

Shionogi plans to file its half-year securities report on Nov. 11, 2026, and to begin paying the interim dividend on Dec. 1, 2026.
