The Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard-listed company also raised its forecast for net profit attributable to owners of the parent to ¥3.2-3.7 billion from ¥2.7-3.3 billion, the range it set on Aug. 7. Net sales are now projected at ¥55.0-60.0 billion, up from ¥54.0-59.0 billion.

For the first half (April 1-Sept. 30, 2026), UEX replaced its ranged forecast with single figures: net sales of ¥28.6 billion, operating profit of ¥1.39 billion, ordinary profit of ¥1.32 billion and net profit of ¥2.33 billion, or ¥226.23 per share. Operating and ordinary profit both exceed the top of the earlier ranges. In the same period a year earlier, operating profit was ¥564 million and net profit ¥274 million.

The company said stainless steel makers implemented large price increases in the first half amid rising raw material and other costs. Expectations of further price rises triggered front-loaded buying, and UEX revised its selling prices in line with purchase costs. A sharp recovery in semiconductor-related demand also pushed sales volumes above plan. For the full year, UEX said speculative demand is showing signs of easing, while it expects demand related to semiconductors, shipbuilding and infrastructure to remain strong.

UEX plans to announce its year-end dividend forecast for the fiscal year together with its first-half earnings report (kessan tanshin) on Nov. 10.
