Komatsu Matere (3580) on Nov. 2 raised its consolidated operating profit forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 by 73.3% to ¥2.6 billion from ¥1.5 billion, and lifted its interim dividend to ¥14 per share from a previously forecast ¥13.

Operating profit forecast¥2.6 billion (from ¥1.5 billion)
Net profit forecast¥2.6 billion (from ¥2.0 billion)
Interim dividend¥14 per share (from ¥13 forecast)
First-half net profit¥1,234 million
ItemPreviousRevised
Net sales¥42.0 billion¥42.5 billion
Operating profit¥1.5 billion¥2.6 billion
Ordinary profit¥2.3 billion¥3.5 billion
Net profit¥2.0 billion¥2.6 billion

The textile maker also raised its earnings per share forecast to ¥68.19 from ¥52.46. It said it had been concerned about higher raw material and energy prices amid geopolitical risks including the Middle East, persistent inflation, currency swings, and economic policies in the U.S. and China, but their impact on first-half results was limited.

With full-year net profit now expected to exceed the earlier forecast, the interim dividend was raised by ¥1, for a total payout of ¥522 million. The year-end dividend forecast is unchanged at ¥14, putting the annual forecast at ¥28, compared with ¥27 a year earlier.

For the April-September first half, net sales fell 2.8% to ¥19,787 million and operating profit dropped 15.1% to ¥1,148 million, while net profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 550.5% to ¥1,234 million. Sales and operating profit declined as the company scheduled fewer operating days in summer to ease workloads during extreme heat, reducing production volume, and as depreciation rose from investments in systems and production equipment.

The board also approved acquiring all shares of Oikawa Hifuku Co. and Yoneyama Apparel Co., both based in Tome, Miyagi Prefecture, from their president. The two companies sew and process slacks for men and students. The price was not disclosed, and the impact on consolidated results for the current fiscal year is under review.

The share transfer is scheduled for Nov. 9, 2026. Komatsu Matere plans to file its semiannual report on Nov. 12, and the interim dividend takes effect on Nov. 30.
