Suzumo Kiko (6405) on Oct. 26 raised its net profit forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027 to ¥1.0 billion from ¥630 million, an increase of 58.7%.

FY net profit forecast¥1.0 billion (from ¥630 million)
FY operating profit forecast¥1.45 billion (from ¥1.0 billion)
H1 net profit forecast¥444 million (from ¥210 million)
Annual dividend forecast¥35 per share (unchanged)

The maker of sushi robots also lifted its full-year operating profit forecast 45.0% to ¥1.45 billion from ¥1.0 billion, and its recurring profit forecast 41.5% to ¥1.5 billion from ¥1.06 billion. Net sales are now projected at ¥17.67 billion, up 0.5% from the ¥17.58 billion forecast announced on May 13. Earnings per share are seen at ¥89.60, versus ¥56.46 previously.

For the April-September first half, the company raised its net profit forecast 112.6% to ¥444 million from ¥210 million and its operating profit forecast 77.5% to ¥621 million from ¥350 million, on sales of ¥8.49 billion versus ¥8.27 billion previously.

First-half overseas sales are now expected at ¥3.36 billion, 7.7% above the previous forecast. Demand in East Asia beat expectations as Japanese companies accelerated their expansion there, while Europe grew on efforts to cultivate demand among local operators and proposals to large operators. North America came in weaker than expected because supply could not keep pace with a surge in demand for a specific product. Domestic sales were broadly in line at ¥5.13 billion; the company said stabilizing rice prices helped revive customers' appetite for capital spending, while its Fuwarica rice-serving robot progressed slightly below plan.

For the full year, Suzumo Kiko raised its overseas sales forecast to ¥6.97 billion and cut its domestic forecast to ¥10.7 billion. It attributed the profit upgrade to stronger-than-forecast sales of its own products and partial effects of price revisions, which improved margins.

The company kept its annual dividend forecast at ¥35 per share, comprising a ¥15 interim and a ¥20 year-end payout.
