The company said expanding investment demand in semiconductor and AI-related fields, along with improved capital-spending appetite among manufacturers, drove strong orders for spot projects such as machinery and for base products including industrial machinery and power transmission equipment, pushing sales above its earlier projection.

On the profit side, higher personnel and other costs are expected to increase selling, general and administrative expenses, leaving operating profit slightly below the previous forecast despite the higher sales. Increased non-operating income, including dividends received, lifted ordinary profit and net profit above the earlier projections.

The company kept its full-year forecast unchanged, saying it needs to carefully assess market trends and changes in the external environment, and said it will promptly announce any revision it deems necessary.
