Local Co. Pulls Full-Year Forecast After ¥296 Million First-Half Net Loss

Tue, Oct 13, 2026 18:00 JST Local Co. (4700.T) Food e-commerce 中文

Local Co. (470A), a food e-commerce company listed on the TOKYO PRO Market, on Oct. 13 withdrew its forecast for the year ending February 2027, which had called for net profit of ¥280 million, after reporting a first-half net loss of ¥296 million on sales down 12.8% to ¥3.15 billion.

Full-year forecastUndetermined (prior: ¥280 million net profit)
First-half net loss¥296 million
First-half sales¥3.15 billion (down 12.8%)
Equity ratio3.8% (8.8% at previous fiscal year-end)

For the six months to Aug. 31, Local posted an operating loss of ¥427 million and an ordinary loss of ¥453 million, compared with operating profit of ¥210 million, ordinary profit of ¥199 million and net profit of ¥130 million a year earlier. The net loss per share was ¥74.05.

The forecast, issued April 14, had projected sales of ¥10.309 billion, operating profit of ¥436 million and earnings per share of ¥70.09. The company said changes in the rice sales environment pushed first-half results below plan, making the original targets likely unattainable, while uncertainty over rice supply and demand, sales volumes, unit prices and the sell-down of inventory prevents it from reasonably calculating a revised figure. It also cited falling market rice prices as supply eased, an earthquake in Kumamoto Prefecture that affected procurement, and an October 2025 change to the furusato nozei hometown tax donation system that has concentrated donations in December.

Net assets fell to ¥154 million at the end of August from ¥471 million at the previous fiscal year-end, cutting the equity ratio to 3.8% from 8.8%. Total assets shrank to ¥3.926 billion from ¥5.319 billion, with raw materials and supplies down ¥835 million and cash and deposits down ¥651 million, while short-term borrowings fell ¥938 million. The interim dividend was zero; the company said its dividend forecast was revised and left the year-end forecast blank.

Next steps: Local plans to submit its interim issuer information on Nov. 30, 2026, and said it will announce a full-year forecast promptly once a reasonable estimate becomes possible.
