Asulina posts ¥301 million FY loss as sales miss forecast by 25.27%

Asulina (3647) posted a consolidated net loss attributable to owners of the parent of ¥301 million for the fiscal year ended Aug. 31, 2026, wider than the ¥272 million loss it had forecast, as net sales of ¥885 million fell 25.27% short of its ¥1.185 billion projection.

Net sales¥885 million
Net loss attributable to owners of parent¥301 million
Write-down of subsidiary shares (parent-only)¥35 million
FY Aug. 2027 sales forecast¥2.343 billion

Sales rose 46.0% from ¥606 million a year earlier, mainly because MF6 was consolidated as a subsidiary from this fiscal year. The operating loss was ¥321 million, against a forecast loss of ¥229 million and a ¥299 million loss a year earlier. Loss per share was ¥14.85.

The company said its environmental energy business had planned to sell land for a grid-scale battery storage project, along with grid connection rights, during the year, but talks with prospective buyers over terms and timing took longer than expected, so the planned sales and profit could not be booked. Final negotiations are continuing. In the sustainable business, cosmetics development and production took longer than planned, delaying a full launch, while instability in the Middle East pushed up raw material costs. The live commerce business broadly met its sales plan, but gross margins fell short after it revised sales terms to shorten inventory turnover and improve cash flow.

On a parent-only basis, Asulina is booking an extraordinary loss of ¥35 million, writing off the full amount of shares acquired through a capital increase at subsidiary Asulina R&D, whose liabilities still exceed its assets after sales fell well short of expectations. The loss is eliminated on consolidation and has no impact on group results.

The annual dividend was zero. For the fiscal year ending August 2027, Asulina forecasts sales of ¥2.343 billion, up 164.7%, an operating loss of ¥92 million and a net loss of ¥139 million. The dividend forecast is undecided.

Next steps: the annual shareholders' meeting is scheduled for Nov. 26, 2026, and the annual securities report is due to be filed on Nov. 27.
