SE Holdings and Incubations Co., Ltd. (9478) said first-half net profit attributable to owners of the parent rose 154.8% to ¥516 million, and its board approved buying back up to 400,000 shares worth up to ¥160 million.
Revenue for the April-September period slipped 0.5% to ¥3,434 million, while operating profit rose 93.9% to ¥752 million and ordinary profit climbed 148.8% to ¥762 million. Earnings per share were ¥34.15, versus ¥12.57 a year earlier.

The investment management segment drove the gain, with revenue up 175.9% to ¥662 million and segment profit up 219.0% to ¥595 million on higher dividend income and the sale of part of holdings the company described as overvalued. The core publishing segment posted revenue of ¥1,739 million, down 11.0%, and segment profit of ¥219 million, down 2.1%. The software and network segment swung to a ¥2 million loss from a ¥35 million profit a year earlier.
The company kept its full-year forecast, announced Oct. 19, 2026, unchanged, projecting revenue of ¥6.7 billion, down 4.7%, and net profit of ¥700 million, up 10.5%. It paid no interim dividend and still plans a year-end dividend of ¥4.00 per share, the same as the previous year.
The buyback covers up to 400,000 common shares, or 2.68% of shares outstanding excluding treasury stock, through market purchases on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. The company cited the need for flexible management in response to changing economic conditions. As of Oct. 22 it held 1,353,409 treasury shares, and it spent ¥203 million on share repurchases during the first half.
Next steps: shares will be bought between Oct. 23 and Dec. 18, 2026. The company plans to file its semiannual report on Nov. 5, 2026.
