Operating profit rose 14.0% to ¥5.762 billion and ordinary profit climbed 13.8% to ¥5.814 billion. The company attributed the sales gain to higher revenue from primary batteries, adhesive tapes, automotive optical components and semiconductor-related products, with profit also helped by a weaker yen. Energy sales included the business acquired from Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., with primary batteries for medical devices and vehicles selling well. Segment profit fell due to a time lag in passing on higher raw material costs and one-off license revenue booked a year earlier.

Maxell kept its full-year forecast unchanged at net sales of ¥143.0 billion, operating profit of ¥10.0 billion and net profit of ¥6.7 billion, down 18.9%. It set an interim dividend of ¥28 per share, up from ¥25 a year earlier, and forecasts ¥56 for the full year.

Separately, the board approved absorbing wholly owned subsidiary Maxell Sakura, which took over the primary battery business of Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and Tohoku Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. through an absorption-type split on March 1, 2026. As a simplified, short-form merger, no shares or cash will be allotted, and Maxell said the impact on consolidated results will be minor.

Maxell plans to file its semiannual report on Nov. 10, 2026, and begin paying the interim dividend on Dec. 8, 2026. The merger is scheduled to take effect on April 1, 2027.
