Cawachi Limited (2664) said first-half net profit attributable to owners of the parent fell 8.6% to ¥2,245 million and cut its full-year sales forecast by ¥2.0 billion to ¥283.0 billion, leaving its profit forecasts unchanged.

H1 net profit¥2,245 million (down 8.6%)
FY sales forecast¥283.0 billion (from ¥285.0 billion)
FY net profit forecast¥3.0 billion (unchanged)
Interim dividend¥50 per share

For the six months ended Sept. 15, 2026, sales fell 0.8% to ¥144,143 million, operating profit dropped 6.2% to ¥3,009 million and ordinary profit declined 8.9% to ¥3,468 million. Earnings per share were ¥100.85, compared with ¥110.05 a year earlier.

The drugstore operator said it revised prices on about 5,400 items and distributed coupons through its own app to drive store traffic. Sales rose in the first quarter, but unseasonable summer weather in the second quarter weighed on seasonal merchandise, leaving first-half sales below plan. Operating and ordinary profit were broadly in line with plan, as semi-self-checkout registers held down labor costs and lower summer power usage and a review of electricity contracts reduced utility expenses.

For the fiscal year ending March 15, 2027, Cawachi lowered its sales forecast to ¥283.0 billion from the ¥285.0 billion announced on April 28, a 0.7% reduction. Forecasts for operating profit of ¥5.1 billion, ordinary profit of ¥6.0 billion and net profit of ¥3.0 billion were unchanged, while the EPS forecast was changed to ¥136.14 from ¥134.32. In the previous fiscal year, operating profit was ¥6,779 million.

During the half, Cawachi opened one store in Tochigi Prefecture and closed one each in Miyagi, Ibaraki and Chiba prefectures, ending the period with 384 stores, 160 of which include dispensing pharmacies. Its equity ratio stood at 57.2%. The company set an interim dividend of ¥50 per share and kept its full-year dividend forecast at ¥100.

The company plans to file its semi-annual securities report on Oct. 29, 2026, and to begin paying the interim dividend on Dec. 1, 2026.
