SmartDrive to book ¥19 million consolidated special loss; forecast unchanged

Tue, Oct 20, 2026 17:00 JST SmartDrive Inc. (5137.T) Information & Communication 中文

SmartDrive Inc. (5137) said it will book a ¥19 million special loss on investment securities in its consolidated results for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2026, with special losses totaling ¥85 million on a non-consolidated basis, and left its full-year consolidated forecast unchanged.

Consolidated special loss¥19 million
Non-consolidated special losses¥85 million
Valuation loss on SD Malaysia shares (non-consolidated)¥66 million
Final figures dueNov. 13, 2026

The Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth-listed company said the ¥19 million writedown relates to held-to-maturity convertible bonds issued by 57CODEBOX SDN. BHD., an equity-method affiliate of its consolidated Malaysian subsidiary SMARTDRIVE SDN. BHD. (SD Malaysia). After reviewing the bonds' recoverability in light of the issuer's financial condition, SmartDrive concluded their fair value had fallen sharply with no recovery expected. The loss will be booked in both consolidated and non-consolidated results.

Separately, SmartDrive will book a ¥66 million valuation loss on its shares in SD Malaysia in its non-consolidated results, after the subsidiary's deteriorating financial position caused a significant decline in the shares' real value. That loss is eliminated on consolidation and has no impact on group results.

The figures are estimates based on financial data as of the end of August 2026. The company said the losses reflect continued losses and a worsening financial position at SD Malaysia and are recorded in line with accounting standards. Its business policy in Malaysia is unchanged, and it will continue working to improve earnings there.

Final figures will be released with the company's earnings report (kessan tanshin) for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2026, scheduled for Nov. 13, 2026. SmartDrive said it will promptly disclose any material changes to the amounts or other matters requiring announcement.
