Cookpad 9-month revenue falls 8.2% to ¥3.71 billion, net profit down 3.7%

Cookpad Inc. (2193) said net profit attributable to owners of the parent fell 3.7% to ¥518 million in the nine months through September, as revenue slid 8.2% to ¥3.71 billion.

Nine-month revenue¥3.71 billion (down 8.2%)
Net profit attributable to owners¥518 million (down 3.7%)
Operating profit¥138 million (down 31.2%)
Merger effective dateJan. 1, 2027 (scheduled)

Operating profit dropped 31.2% to ¥138 million, while profit before tax rose 5.6% to ¥521 million, the recipe service operator said in its IFRS earnings report for January-September. Basic earnings per share were ¥7.19, compared with ¥6.83 a year earlier.

Revenue fell mainly on a decline in premium service members of its recipe service, the company said. Selling, general and administrative expenses decreased 6.2% to ¥3,549 million. Cookpad booked ¥185 million in one-time costs, mainly in the first quarter, for staff reductions at overseas bases, but outsourcing costs fell after the overseas consolidation and recruiting costs declined. Lower foreign exchange losses cut finance costs and lifted pretax profit, while higher income tax expense weighed on the bottom line.

Total assets stood at ¥14,228 million as of Sept. 30, with an equity attributable to owners ratio of 92.7%. Shares issued were 78,807,900, down from 107,429,400 at the end of 2025, and treasury shares fell to 6,923,303 from 34,122,703.

Cookpad did not issue a full-year forecast for the year ending December 2026, saying it will decide the timing and size of investments flexibly in response to changes in its business environment. It projects a zero dividend for the year, unchanged.

Separately, Cookpad decided to absorb wholly owned subsidiary Moment GK, which runs a cooking coaching business, in a simplified merger that requires no shareholder meeting and involves no allocation of shares or cash. The company said the impact on consolidated results would be minor.

Next steps: the merger is scheduled to take effect on Jan. 1, 2027.
