Takara Standard Co., Ltd. (7981), a Japanese housing equipment maker, said its board approved on Sept. 30, 2026, absorbing wholly owned subsidiary Takara Kako Co., Ltd., which posted net sales of ¥3.26 billion in the year to March 2026, effective April 1, 2027.

Takara Standard will be the surviving company and Takara Kako will be dissolved. Because the deal is a simplified and short-form merger under Japan's Companies Act, neither company will hold a shareholders' meeting to approve it. The merger agreement was signed on Sept. 30, 2026, and no new shares or merger cash will be issued.

Takara Kako, established on Jan. 7, 2019, and based in Konan, Shiga Prefecture, produces fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) products, mainly kitchen countertops and bathtubs, and serves as the group's main production plant. Takara Standard said the integration aims to strengthen the competitiveness of its system bath business, advance FRP production technology, and capture benefits from more efficient allocation of capital expenditure and R&D spending and streamlined operations.

The merger is scheduled to take effect on April 1, 2027.
