Under the agreement, the two companies plan to cooperate in four areas: strengthening existing businesses by drawing on each other's strengths and business bases; creating new business opportunities using their know-how and infrastructure; jointly developing new technologies; and collaborating in overseas business.

Nippon Kiso Gijutsu said it has built up drilling and grouting expertise in Japan over more than 70 years, covering geological surveys and foundation consulting through foundation work, ground improvement, maintenance and repair, and is developing automated construction technology. It regards overseas operations as a medium- to long-term growth area. Gecoss rents and sells temporary steel materials for construction, designs and builds temporary works, and rents construction machinery. Under a 2025-2027 medium-term plan announced March 26, 2025, it is expanding into earth-retaining-related fields.

The companies have no capital or personnel ties; Gecoss places orders for foundation and temporary works with Nippon Kiso Gijutsu. As of March 31, 2026, Gecoss's largest shareholders were JFE Steel Corp. at 27.58% and Mizuho Leasing Co. at 20.00%.
